Job Title: General Practitioner (GP)

Job Summary

The General Practitioner is responsible for providing comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients of all ages. The role involves assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions while promoting preventive healthcare and patient education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive medical consultations, physical examinations, and patient assessments.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Develop and implement appropriate treatment and management plans.
  • Prescribe medications and other treatments in accordance with clinical guidelines.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic investigations.
  • Provide preventive healthcare, health screening, vaccinations, and lifestyle counseling.
  • Monitor patients with chronic conditions and provide ongoing follow-up care.
  • Refer patients to specialists or other healthcare professionals when required.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient medical records.
  • Recognize and appropriately manage medical emergencies and arrange referral or transfer when necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, specialists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Follow applicable clinical protocols, infection-control procedures, and healthcare regulations.
  • Participate in quality improvement, clinical audits, and continuing professional development.
  • Maintain professional standards, ethical practice, and patient confidentiality.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
  • Valid medical license/registration to practice as a General Practitioner.
  • Completion of required internship/residency or equivalent clinical training.
  • Relevant clinical experience in primary care or general medicine.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications such as ACLS may be preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
