Job Summary
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing and cardiopulmonary disorders. The role involves administering respiratory therapies, monitoring patient progress, operating respiratory care equipment, and collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to provide high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gas analysis, and oxygen saturation monitoring.
- Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, nebulization treatments, and chest physiotherapy.
- Manage and monitor mechanical ventilators, CPAP, and BiPAP devices.
- Assist physicians during intubation, bronchoscopy, and other respiratory procedures.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and modify therapy plans as directed by physicians.
- Respond to emergency situations, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and code blue events.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory diseases, treatment plans, and home respiratory equipment.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies.
- Ensure proper maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of respiratory equipment.
- Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Valid professional license/registration as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Eligibility for or possession of relevant licensing authority requirements (e.g., DOH, DHA, MOH in UAE).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Male candidates prefered
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting preferred.
- Experience in ICU, NICU, PICU, Emergency Department, or Critical Care settings is an advantage.
- DOH License
